Bristol’s Blankets was created in loving memory of Bristol Rose Gaines, a little girl who found comfort, security, and a sense of home in her blankets throughout her childhood cancer journey.

During Bristol’s time in the hospital, her blankets were rarely far away. In a world filled with unfamiliar rooms, procedures, machines, and faces, they were something familiar—something that belonged to her.

After losing Bristol, we wanted to give that same feeling of comfort to other children facing some of their hardest days.

And so, Bristol’s Blankets began.

More Than a Blanket

To most of us, a blanket may seem like something simple.

To a child spending days, weeks, or even months receiving medical care, it can become much more.

It can be something soft to hold during a difficult procedure.

Something familiar to take from one hospital room to another.

Something to curl up beneath when they don't feel well.

Something that makes a hospital bed feel just a little more like their own.

And something they can take home with them when they leave.

Every Bristol’s Blanket is given with the hope that a child will feel comfort, security, warmth, and love each time they wrap themselves in it.

Made Especially for Them

Bristol’s Blankets are prepared with children in mind.

We want the blankets we give to feel cheerful, comforting, and personal—not clinical.

From dinosaurs and animals to bright colors and fun patterns, each blanket is chosen or created with the hope of bringing a little piece of childhood into a place where being a kid can sometimes become difficult.

Every blanket is accompanied by a message for the child reminding them:

You’ve got this!

Families also receive a message explaining the story behind their blanket and the little girl whose love of blankets inspired it.

There is never a cost to the child or family receiving a Bristol’s Blanket.

It is simply a gift of love, from our family to theirs.

Who We Serve

Through Bristol’s Blankets, The Bristol Rose Foundation provides blankets to children facing childhood cancer, serious illnesses, and medically complex journeys.

We work to reach children and families through hospital and clinic partnerships, as well as other opportunities that allow us to provide comfort where it is needed.

Our hope is to continue expanding Bristol’s Blankets so that more children—both in Louisiana and beyond—can experience a little extra comfort during difficult days.

Every Blanket Carries a Story

When a child receives a Bristol’s Blanket, we hope they see something colorful, soft, and completely theirs.

But behind every blanket is another little story.

Bristol’s.

A little girl who loved yellow.

Who loved music and dancing.

Who loved dinosaurs.

Who called a triceratops “toppy.”

Who loved her family fiercely.

And who knew just how important the comfort of a favorite blanket could be.

Giving these blankets allows us to share a small piece of Bristol's love with children who need it.

Her name continues to be spoken.

Her story continues to be told.

And her love continues to travel farther than we ever imagined.
