When our world changed:
There are moments in life that divide everything into a before and an after.
For our family, Bristol's cancer diagnosis was one of those moments.
The life we knew—the ordinary days filled with dancing, “meek,” dinosaurs, tractor rides, Abracadabras, and all the beautiful chaos that came with Bristol—suddenly became a world of doctors, hospital rooms, medications, procedures, lab results, and words we never imagined we would need to understand.
Our world changed.
But Bristol didn't stop being Bristol.
Behind the diagnosis was still our little girl.
The same girl who loved music still wanted to dance. The little girl who had always been curious was still watching everything happening around her. Her personality, her silliness, her determination, and her ability to make people love her didn't disappear simply because she became a patient.
Cancer changed so much about Bristol's world, but it never got to define who she was.
Finding Comfort in an Unfamiliar World
So much of Bristol's life suddenly became unfamiliar.
Hospital rooms replaced days at home. New faces came in and out of her room. There were medications, procedures, machines, and long days when very little felt normal.
That's when some of the simplest things became incredibly important.
Especially her blankets.
Bristol loved her blankets before cancer, but during treatment they became something more. They were familiar when everything around her was unfamiliar. They gave her warmth, comfort, security, and a little piece of home that could stay close no matter where we were.
On some of the hardest days, her blanket could simply be there.
No needles.
No questions.
No expectations.
Just comfort.
We could never have known then how much that simple piece of Bristol's story would eventually become part of her legacy.
The People Who Loved Her
Along the way, Bristol's world grew to include an incredible group of people who cared for her.
Doctors, nurses, and members of her care team came to know the little girl behind the diagnosis. They saw her personality, her determination, her funny little ways, and the things that made Bristol, Bristol.
For us, they became part of a chapter of her life we never wanted to have to write, but one we will never forget.
Bristol was surrounded by an extraordinary amount of love—from her family, from the people caring for her, and from so many people who followed her journey and hoped alongside us.
Bravery Was Already Part of Her
People often call children fighting cancer brave.
Bristol absolutely was.
But the truth is, Bristol was fearless long before cancer ever entered her life.
This was the same little girl who thought anything remotely dangerous looked like the most exciting thing in the world. Cancer didn't give Bristol her courage.
It simply showed us how much courage had been inside of her all along.
She endured things no child should ever have to endure, and through it all, she was still our baby.
Still Bristol.
Still loved beyond measure.
We hoped, prayed, celebrated every bit of progress, and held onto the belief that we would eventually bring our little girl home and put this chapter behind us.
We never imagined that the story we thought we were living would end differently.
But it did.
And on April 24, 2026, our world changed again.
